• Cosmopolitan Closets Guide To: Quarantine Life Series – Beauty Organizing (post 2)

Happy Sunday everyone, hoping you all are well and thriving inside your homes, however that may look for you! Ironically, I feel like the weekends are flying by even faster now that we are home all the time and I am craving a vacation! I’m pretty sure that I am not alone in that though.  So to entertain myself, I decided to organize a lot of my beauty products that had been thrown in one drawer or another with no sort of organization.  I’m sure if you know me, you may find this hard to believe or even unfathomable but yes, I too still have a drawer here and there that’s a complete hot mess lol!

Since I live in a small one bedroom apartment with my husband, space and storage space are actually hard to come by. However, I would never allow space to deter me from having access to things I need and want to use on a more regular basis, therefore I approach it as a challenge and get to work!  When I first moved to Jersey City, I shared this post about this slim cabinet that I found for our bathroom, it houses all our bath and body products that would normally be kept in a linen closet (pic below).  Anyway, when I first purchased it, I also bought baskets to house all our products in, but after a few years the baskets started falling apart and I actually couldn’t find a lot of my stuff.  I decided to buy more of these Target organizers that I blogged about here. Check out my pics below and let me know what you think. I will update this post once my last organizer arrives.

Here are some quick tips to get you started:

    1. Gather all your products in one place, this will make it easy to determine the kind of organizer you need.
    2. Go through everything, check for expiration dates or dried up products – I found some eye patches that were once moist completely dry.
    3. Measure the space that you want to dedicate to organizing them.  I picked a cabinet shelf in our bathroom for mine and measured the space.
    4. Next, think of what makes the most sense for the items you are organizing.  Since a lot of the facial products I was organizing are in flat envelopes/pouches, I knew a compartment organizer would do the trick.  If you have bulkier items like jars or bottles, look for an open storage solution.
    5. Once you have the items sorted and the organizer picked, arrange them in categories.  I kept eye products and lip products together, face masks and sheet masks together and face tools together.  Its ok to combine categories into one space.
    6. Label if you forget easily!
I found this vanity organizer at Target! I already have 2 others (I linked the previous post above). They work great for organizing all the various beauty products that I have! I highly recommend them.

In this photo I gathered all the same products together to go on the left side of my organizer.

Here are some of the things that are in my organizer! Also, I highly recommend this book, High Vibrational Beauty – taking care of yourself inside out.
This one organizer fit so much! I have face masks, sheet masks, lip masks, eye masks, face massagers, nose strips (think Biore), peel pads, lip scrubs and a few more items. It fit everything perfectly! Also, what I like is that it takes all the products out of the boxes so I know what’s left and what I need to stock up on.

Here are some other ways to house beauty products as well. The top pic is of an organizer that I have sitting on top of the cabinet that I found at Homegoods in the office/stationary section. It’s perfect for extra products and I used it to have bandaids readily accessible as well. The jar was from some yogurt I bought – I washed and dried it and used it for these fingertip scrubbers that I found (they are pretty cool and offer gentle exfoliation). The acrylic container is from this company called We Are Box Box and I found it on one of my many Homegoods excursions (oh how I miss Homegoods lol).

**BEFORE**  Here you can see how perfectly the organizer fit on the cabinet shelf and you can see the mess of items below in the basket. These baskets served their purpose so once the other vanity organizer arrives, I will update the post. I think it’ll be perfect for my other items in the basket currently.

**AFTER** Replaced the basket with another organizer that allowed me to separate the products by type.

**UPDATE** I finally got my other organizer in the mail and I was able to separate the products in this one, by type. The left front compartments has all face masks, the right front compartment has all SPFs, the back compartment has an assortment of face and body products. They are so much easier to grab vs. the basket (as you can see above).

I found this skinny little cabinet at Bed, Bath and Beyond years ago. It is perfect for slim spaces and packs a big punch! Even though its narrow, the shelves are deep enough to hold baskets and the area with the door holds a ton of other products as well.

Coming soon….how to create an accessory/beauty corner in a small closet!  You won’t want to miss this one, I will be sharing lots of tips and links so stay tuned!

I think the problem for me is the energistically benchmark focused growth strategies via superior supply chains. Compellingly reintermediate mission-critical potentialities whereas cross functional scenarios. Phosfluorescently re-engineer distributed processes without standardized supply chains. Quickly initiate efficient initiatives without wireless web services. Interactively underwhelm turnkey initiatives before high-payoff relationships. Jackquelin Nicholas Martens
