• Cosmopolitan Closets Small Kitchen Organizing Series – The Anywhere Counter

Hi Everyone!  Happy Sunday.  Since everyone is snowed in or trying to shovel themselves out of this blizzard in NYC/NJ, I figured now is a good time to share this post in my small kitchen organizing series.  If you didn’t get to read the first post, you can find it here!
So we all know that counter space in a kitchen is key for preparing great meals, packing lunches and planning your menu.  All the new homes have fab kitchens with miles of countertop and beautiful islands to do just that, but if you are anything like me and have a tiny kitchen with 2 small counters (one of which houses our dish rack), then this post is definitely for you!  My bf found the perfect solution that offered storage space, counter space and functionality, which I would like to introduce to you as the “anywhere counter” or what is better known as a kitchen cart!  Pretty basic right?

We found our cart online for about $150 and it is perfect in our space.  The cart has a wooden butcher block on the top (perfect for food prep), a wine rack as the first shelf, a second shelf and a bottom basket for storage.  It also has hooks on one side and a hanging bar on the other, plus it has wheels that lock which make it perfect to move around the kitchen as needed.  Since I can show you better than I can tell you, take a look at the pics below and let me know what you think!  Please share your small kitchen tips too πŸ™‚

P.S. Before I share my pics, here are a few links for some kitchen carts online.
    1. Wayfair kitchen cart perfect for a tiny kitchenette for $38.99
    2. Bed, Bath and Beyond kitchen cart perfect for a small kitchen with a chinaware counter for $79.99
    3. Overstock kitchen cart  perfect for a small kitchen with a drawer, shelves and a cabinet with a “granite-like” counter for $174.99.

Top view of the cart and as you can see, has a nice size butcher block that is perfect for food prep and chopping!  Also, it comes completely off if you ever need to spray it down.

1st shelf – wine and spirits

2nd shelf – snacks and teas

3rd shelf – foil, ziplock bags, garbage bags, etc. (I could organize this a bit better, but someone messes it up every time they reach in so I have given up lol)

There are 4 hooks that are perfect for hanging pans, oven mitts, strainers and more.  The towel bar on the other side is great for allowing dishtowels to dry.

Here is our kitchen cart and wire rack that I featured as the first post of this series, plus you can see the updated spice rack, which I originally blogged about here (I will be updating that post in a week so stay tuned)!  There is a lot going on in this picture and I know it may not be for everyone, but when you have 6 cabinets, 2 counters and 2 foodies, you have to make it work.  The bulletin board is from Walmart I think and is perfect for menus, receipts, coupons and more.

I like that kitchen cart and wire rack combo! Thanks for inspiring me – when we actually have space, I'll have to consider it! Great blog – keep the posts coming πŸ™‚
