The Plant Corner - The Small Apartment Guide to Keeping all of your Plants

Okay, everyone knows that I love plants, especially succulents.  However, what you don't know, is the fact that the plants have taken over my apartment with my bf, who by the way has a pretty green thumb as well lol.  So we needed to figure out, how can we still enjoy the plants without them taking over our bedroom.  Since we have a little nook that has 2 windows, its the perfect place for the plants to stay, but with so many we had to strategize a better way to organize them.

Cosmopolitan Closets Customizing: Thee Perfect Plant Pot

Its no secret that I love plants and flowers and if you follow me on Instagram (@cosmopolitanclosets) you will see tons of posts on my flower arrangements and succulents!  One thing I love doing is customizing ceramic pots to compliment my decor.  Its super easy and affordable and all you need is the following:
1. Plant    2. Clay Pot   3. Paint  4. Brush  5. Tape

I typically buy the clay pots that I find at Home Depot (which you can find here), but they also sell them at Lowes, Walmart and most Florists.  Once I have the pot in the size I want, I pick out a color.  Instead of buying tons of paint, I buy samples of the colors I like, in any finish.  The one pictured below is Behr paint in Caribbean Current.  I absolutely love this color and it goes perfectly with my living room decor!  I usually do 3 coats; a primer, the color and a sealer/gloss.  I normally let the color dry for a few hours before I paint the gloss over it and then I let it dry overnight.  Once its all dry, I add my dirt and my plant and I'm done!  Its so simple. (If you want to do a design, just use tape as the guide.)

Check out the pics below and let me know what you think!  Have you ever customized a plant pot?

Here is my beautiful pot! Painted in Caribbean Current with a Golden Pothos inside.  These plants are easy to grow, require minimal sun and water and have vines that grow for miles!

Cosmopolitan Closets Customizing: Growing A Garden

So I don't know about you, but I absolutely love gardening!  Unfortunately, once I moved out of Harlem, I lost my terrace and my gardening space.  However, that didn't stop me from gardening this summer at my bf's mom's house in Jersey City.

Honestly, there is no recipe for the perfect garden.  I just built the box (with my bf's help of course), filled it with dirt, planted the plants and watched it grow!  Check out my pics below and feel free to share your garden pics too!  I want to see what you are growing!

Here is a list of everything we planted:
Tomatoes, green onions, jalapenos, cow peppers, green bell peppers, banana peppers, carrots, green beans, Japanese eggplant, zucchini, garlic, basil, oregano, tarragon, thyme, rosemary, mint, spearmint, parsley and watermelon (although I am not sure if one will actually grow!).

Here is the garden box that I found at Home Depot for $99.  Here is the link.
BEFORE:  This is the garden box built and ready for planting.  The instructions and assembly are very straightforward and require a lot of dirt.

THEN:  This is the garden box once everything was planted, from either seeds or starter plants, all found at Home Depot and Lowes.

NOW:  Everything is growing like crazy!

Slim Spaces

Hi Everyone!  Happy Summer!  Sorry for disappearing, you know how life can get in the way.  Any who, I hope that everyone is enjoying their summer and ready to organize.
