Cosmopolitan Closets Customizing - For the Love of Chevron:

During my last trip to Marshall's, while waiting in a very long line, I came across this amazing shelf lining paper in a turquoise and white chevron print. I mean who doesn't love chevron and since they packaged 2 rolls for $5.99, I figured why not try it. I decided to line my kitchen cabinets with it, to add a pop of color to an all white space. I'm thinking of using the remaining paper for my bathroom shelves or linen closet.

Check out the pics below and let me know what you think.

The paper is by Macbeth and comes with instructions and rulers on the back. Very helpful for measuring and cutting for shelves.

Cosmopolitan Closets Customizing - Display Case Update

Hi everyone! I finally got around to customizing the display case that I mentioned before as a unique way to organize accessories.  I decided to personalize the case by painting it a pretty turquoise color, trimmed in silver to match my bedroom decor. After it was completely dry, I hung it over my jewelry armoire and Voila!  Not only does the case serve as a nice accent to my bedroom, but it is a great way to display beautiful jewelry and does not take up precious surface space.  And as an added bonus, it holds about 8-10 necklaces and could definitely be used to hang earrings or bracelets.

Tell me what you think!  Do you ever personalize items for your home?

Check out the before and after picture below. What a difference a little paint makes!

Slim Hanging!

On one of my many trips to Wal-Mart, I acame across the best hanger ever and no, not the slim hangers everyone is raving about. What I found was far better,  a metal multi-tiered hanger that only cost $4.99.  I figured that it could be used for skirts, pants or anything else. The hanger has 6 tiers with clips attached for easy hanging and what's really unique is the ability to flip the tiers over one another for easy access to the tier above or below (see picture below to get a true sense of what I mean)!

In total, I have 23 skirts hung on 3 hangers, with only minimal use of hanging space in the closet. Imagine how much space 25 skirts would take up if I hung them individually. Check out my pics below and let me know what you think!  Do you use any kind of tiered hangers to maximize space in your closet?

Here is the link for the best multi-hanger ever!  The durable material makes it ideal for hanging heavy wool skirts and pants and perfect for summer maxi skirts.

Below to the left is a picture of the 3 tiered hangers of skirts. Look at how little space they take up.

Here are a few pictures of the skirt hangers separately. One hanger has 7 skirts and the other 2 hangers have 8 skirts each. I tried to group them by skirt style, keeping pencil skirts together and grouping  my minis and pleated skirts together. The clips to hang the skirts are very durable, so you can feel free to double or even triple garments on each.

There are 8 skirts on 1 hanger!

The "Anywhere" Office

So if you're anything like me and live in an apartment or house where space is scarce, you may not have the room to have a traditional office. Nonetheless, you can still have one by creating the space and organizing it like a pro!  I have a little nook in my living room that I discovered was perfect for a desk and bookcase and immediately sought to find the perfect desk. Unfortunately, my dream Pottery Barn desk cost more than my monthly rent, so I opted for an Ikea original that only cost $70 and came with both a desk and bookcase.

Since I have limited space, I decided to make the most out of my "office" by addding a large mirror and fun chair, both of which I found at Marshalls. In addition to those pieces, I found that baskets can double as magazine holders and a plant or two will liven up any space. I also decided to look for a unique set of desk organizers to house my plethora of office supplies (don't ask why I have so may, I just do lol). Check out my organizers (purchased all of them from Marshalls and TJMaxx) and some others that I came across in my travels.

To finish the space, I added an easy-to-hang bulletin board that I found at Target!  I also found that if I added some hooks for my keys, I could save at least 10 minutes every morning :)
